This is one of the great inspirational stories of success for kids. Once upon a time, there lived a farmer. This farmer had a dog. The farmer’s farm was near a highway. Now, every day, after the dog helped the farmer with his daily things, he went to sit by the highway. The dog loved the road. Every day, without fail he would sit by the highway and wait for cars to pass by. And whenever he saw a car, he would chase after it. After a while, he’d come back, his tongue out due to all the running and wait again. He would stay there, quietly waiting for another car to come. He did this repeatedly, car after car and day after day. The dog would return to the farm in the evenings and go to the highway the next day after his daily duties. One day, one of the farmer’s friends came to visit the farmer. He was astonished to see the dog chase cars. So, he asked the farmer, “Do you think he will ever catch one?” The farmer shook his head and said, “That doesn’t bother me at all. But the thing I am worried about is, what would he do with the car if he ever did catch one.” We humans, most of the times, act as the farmer's dog. We set a goal, without much thinking. And then we follow them with all our soul and powers, but what we do not think about is whether the goal we have set is of any worth or not.
