Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Full Poem

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Full Poem is one of the most popular couplet nursery rhymes of all time. The words of this poem have been taken from an early 19th-century English poem called “The Star”. It was first written by the great writers Jane Taylor and her sister Ann Taylor in London in the year 1806.

 The rhyme has been sung to the tune of French melody, Ah! Vous Dirai-Je, Maman. It was published in the year 1761. It was later adapted by various composers including Mozart (keyboard and violin) with Twelve Variations On “Ah vous dirai-je Maman” (piano). The English version of this poem consists of five stanzas but only first one is widely known. This poem has many adaptions all around the world. Here it goes!

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are!

Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky!

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,

When the blazing sun is gone,
When he nothing shines upon,

Then you show your little light,
Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.

Summary:

This is a poem about a little girl who loves to see the shining stars every night. She loves stars so much that she has her own star pillow. She adores her every night. One night before going to the bed, she is looking out from her bedroom window.  To her surprise, a little, bright, shining star comes to visit her and say ‘HELLO’ to her. The little star takes the little girl on a wonderful ride in the sky. On their ride, they see some travelers who are not able to find their way. The star showers its bright light which helps the travelers in finding their way back to shore. Soon, the star and the little girl returns to her room, safe and sound.
